SFPS shall be among the most competitive schools in Rizal.
San Francisco High School was the first school founded by the Columban Fathers in Cardona, Rizal. The school is owned by the Roman Catholic Church under the supervision of the clergy of the Diocese of Antipolo. In 1950, almost 40% of the Cardonians were living on the poverty line and could not afford to go to Morong, to avail a secondary education. This fact prompted Fr. James P. Roddy, then parish priest of Cardona, and his alternate priest, Fr. Michael Nolan, to put up a high school in answer to the urgent need of the community. Their move reaped-out positive response. The school was founded in the same year and was named San Francisco High School in honor of its patron saint St. Francis of Assisi, and was duly recognized by the government on May 28, 1953. Since then, San Francisco High School as an educational institution duly sanctioned by the Catholic Church aims to serve God and the country. Its evangelizing mission includes its preferential option for the poor. Aware of the economic, social, cultural, and political situations in Cardona, Fr. Roddy and Fr. Nolan together with the school administrator, faculty and staff, offered a value-based curriculum for the total formation of its clientele as agents of peace and instruments of God's undying care and concern, taking after the examples of St. Francis of Assisi for the realization of God's kingdom. In 1985, the then parish priest Fr. Thomas O' Grady saw the need to establish a Kindergarten School in answer to the popular request of the parents to give their children good start in education. Fr. O'Grady expressed his sincere intention to establish a Kindergarten School in Cardona, Rizal. He requested the Franciscan Sister of the Immaculate Conception Sister Carmela Gatmaitan, a nun from St. Joseph College to make the necessary arrangements and preparations for the project with Fr. O'Grady. Mrs. Flordeliza L. Capistrano, the then Principal of San Francisco High School, together with Sister Carmela worked for the filing of application for permit to operate from the Division Office at the capitol of Pasig, Metro Manila. Hence, San Francisco School (SFS) was established on June 17, 1985. It housed the pre- kindergarten and kindergarten classes which started with 87 pupils with Sister Carmela as the Principal. After a few years of temporary permit, SFS was granted government recognition on September 12, 1991. In the School Year 1989 - 1990, San Francisco High School was run for the first time by the competent Franciscan Sister, with Sister Tarcela O. Taa, SFIC, on the lead. She stayed for two fulfilling years; Sister Lucy C. Gumiran, SFIC, then took over which signal a take-off for more fruitful years.
